OPENING CEREMONIES

This year our Opening Ceremonies will begin outside and move into the brand new Roxy Theatre. These are all-ages events, no tickets are required to attend. Nextfest is a mask-friendly festival, please learn more about Nextfest 2022 Covid Safety.

OUTDOOR Launch

When: Thursday, June 2 at 6:00 pm
Location: The Lot (Across the Street from the Roxy)

Artists! Audiences! Volunteers! Nextfest super fans! Everyone is welcome. Starting outside at 6 pm, helps us launch Nextfest 2022 outside at The Lot! There will be music and celebration for all to join in.

INDOOR Celebrations

When: Thursday, June 2 at 7:00 pm
Location: The Nancy Power Theatre in the Roxy Theatre 

After an hour of Nextfest fun in the summer sun, we’re moving the part over to the Roxy on 124th at 7 pm.

Join the party and help start the festival off with a bang! The Nextfest Opening Ceremonies feature dancing, music, performances, pizza, partying, and an introduction to your new best friends.  

Come experience performances and previews from Christina Hollingworth, Stem Champ, Ronald Morrera, Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo; Casual Friday, Performance Review by Thorin Freeman Peters, Eamon van den Berg and Kitty Knievel; 坐月子 Sitting the Month by Kathryn Gwun-Yeen Lennon and Jia Jia Yong; and the MacEwan Youth Jazz Orchestra.
