Nextfest is now accepting submissions for musical artists and bands, for the 2021 Festival. The festival runs over 11 days from June 3rd – 13th, 2021, and like the 2020 festival, this year’s festival will take place on-line rather than in-person.
Please read the following before you apply.
Who can apply?
There are no age restrictions — people of all ages are welcome to apply. If you are in High School, please indicate that in the “comments” section of the form, as there are some opportunities specifically open to High School students.
Please note that the musical performances will need to be done via pre-recorded video, due to the festival’s online format. You will have the option of self-recording your performance, in a location of your choice, or you can use the space at the Roxy Theatre and we can record the performance with our in-house tech and equipment.
If you choose to self-record, Nextfest can assist you by providing a virtual audio-visual mentor who can answer questions about technical considerations. We can also provide some audio-visual equipment for you to borrow (for example, a video camera, or microphones.)
Commitment to 35//50
Nextfest values equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. Therefore, we are committed to the 35//50 Initiative, which is based on two facts:
● 37% – 43% of Edmonton are BIPOC and rising.
● It is evident that the number of Employed Professionals in Edmonton’s artistic Community does not reflect those numbers.
Therefore, Nextfest is committed to booking a minimum of 35% Black, Indigenous, as well as People of Colour, and 50% woman or non-binary people in paid, professional positions.
To apply for Music at Nextfest 2021, please fill out this form.
The deadline for this application is January 31, 2021.
*Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted.
