Cindy is a Taiwanese-Canadian performance artist, based in Vancouver. She received a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts for Theatre Performance at Simon Fraser University, and is a multi-instrumentalist, classically trained on the violin.
Prior to her degree, as a violinist, her works include performing in the International
Youth Symphony Orchestra in Bremen, Germany (2009), Tafelmusik Baroque Institute at the University of Toronto (2010), Banff International String Quartet Competition Young Musicians Program (2010), a chance to do workshops in music and dance with the New York cast of Wicked, as well as various events and awards with the Performing Arts BC.
During her time in the Theatre Performance Program, Cindy was re-acquainted with
music, performing as an actor while being a sound designer in the 2016 Blackbox shows. Since then, most of her works with SFU has allowed her to explore her background as a musician and execute her training as an actor.
Her most recent works included starring in the 2020 short film “A Family Act”,
premiering a piece for violin and electronics by Kimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi at the Music on Main’s emerging artist features, as well as releasing a debut album with her band Alien Pod: “Merchants of Venus”.
